A walker was airlifted from a Snowdonia hillside after injuring his back.

Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team was alerted shortly after 3.30pm on Wednesday to the incident in Bwlch-y-Rhiwiau in the West of the national park.

A team spokesperson said the injury was the result of an unfortunate slip.

“The casualty was unable to move, but was able to provide his exact location to the team who upon their arrival assessed the casualty and determined a helicopter evacuation was necessary,” the spokesperson said.

“The casualty was stabilised, provided with pain relief and stretchered to a Coastguard helicopter from St Athan who quickly arrived to assist. The casualty was airlifted to hospital for further assessment and treatment.

“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and hope to see them in the hills again soon.”
