Rescuers searching for missing mountain runner Chris Smith have found a body.
Police Scotland said the discovery was made about 11.50am on Thursday, near Meall Garbh above Glen Lyon.
A police spokesperson said: “Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of missing 43-year-old Chris Smith has been informed.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
Mr Smith was reported missing after setting out about 3pm from Inverar, intending to summit Meall na Aighean, Càrn Mairg, Meall Garbh and Càrn Gorm. He was reported missing at 7.30pm the same day.
Searches for the GB mountain running team member continued into the third day on Thursday, with mountain rescue teams being joined by a Coastguard helicopter.

29 October 2020We are just back from helping in the search (for our second day), because we live right here and know and love these four mountains. Couldn't bear to think of someone lying injured up there. We were busy searching high up on the south side of one of the other Munros, on steep, rocky ground in terrible weather, hoping against hope.... when the call came through that a body had been found. So so sad. Our thoughts are with Chris's family and friends.
