A walker who has been missing for almost three days in the Yorkshire Dales has been found safe and well.
Harry Harvey, 80, has been reunited with his family at the Tan Hill Inn.
He was reported missing on Sunday after heading out for an organised walk with a group in Swaledale.
Police said Mr Harvey was spotted by a wildlife photographer who had seen appeals for information on the missing Tynemouth man and noticed him waving at her from the Keld direction.
Inspector Mark Gee of North Yorkshire Police said: “This is fantastic news that Harry has been found safe and well.
“I want to thank all the search volunteers for their time, as well as gamekeepers, estate owners, farmers and local residents for their help and understanding.
“Thanks also to the Tan Hill, who looked after the volunteers and Mr Harvey’s family.”
A huge search operation involving more than 100 mountain rescue volunteers, seven search dogs and handlers and a police helicopter took place on the hills around Gunnerside and the Tan Hill Inn after Mr Harvey’s disappearance was reported.

I think the letters "un" need to be placed at that start of the word "organised".
Just a thought but when this type of things happens maybe they should start by looking down the grating

08 September 2020Great news. A debrief from the group would be useful. Lessons can be learnt by other groups from this episode

08 September 2020How did the group lose him and where has the poor guy been?

"A debrief" and "Lessons can be learnt" really?
It's actually a good old fashioned bollocking the rest of the group need or the group leader if there was one.
Making sure no one from a walking group goes missing is something so basic if shouldn't need learnt. It should just happen in the natural and obvious course of things

09 September 2020#SL above, ‘grating?’ What in this context, is grating?
I see you also use the word in your comment about James Forrest’s Wainwright round.

Not much to explain really.
If ever you fall down the grating you'll know what I mean.

11 September 2020Was Harry not concerned for his friend after they became separated? Did he not think that perhaps his friend might have had a mishap too and should check to see if he’s all right by returning to Tan Hill instead of wild camping for three nights? His story doesn’t add up.
