Police said they have growing concerns for an 80-year-old walker who is missing in the Yorkshire Dales.
North Yorkshire Police said 60 trained search and rescue volunteers were joined by seven search dogs and handlers in the operation to find Harry Harvey.
Mr Harvey, from Tynemouth, was reported missing from an organised walking group in Swaledale on Sunday.
Searches on Monday covered what officers described as a vast area from the Tan Hill Inn down towards Reeth and Gunnerside. A police helicopter has also joined the search.
Police said officers will remain in and around the area to respond to any new information received about Mr Harvey’s whereabouts.
Local policing inspector Mark Gee, said: “Despite the searches, we are sorry to say Mr Harvey is still missing. We have growing concerns for his safety and welfare and will continue to put all our efforts into further searches tomorrow.
“Officers are supporting the family during this worrying time, and I urge anyone who thinks they might have seen him to get in touch as a matter of urgency. Any information, no matter how small or irrelevant you think it is, could be key to finding Harry.
“I also again ask local residents and workers to check sheds, barns and other outbuildings. Please also keep an eye out for any discarded camping or walking equipment or clothing.”
When Mr Harvey went missing he was wearing a dark-coloured jacket and trousers, walking boots and carrying a large dark-coloured rucksack containing all of his camping and hiking gear including his tent.
Anyone who thinks they might have seen the missing walker or who has any information is asked to contact police by phoning 101, pressing 1 and passing information onto the force control room.
