Rescuers in north-western Scotland resumed a search at the weekend for a walker who disappeared in May last year.
Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team said its members returned to the Fisherfield Forest in an effort to find West Yorkshire man Martin Rhodes.
A team spokesperson said: “Unfortunately no trace of Mr Rhodes was found.”
The rescue team’s volunteers had pledged to Mr Rhodes’s family that they would continue to search the remote area of Wester Ross after having to curtail the operation during the coronavirus lockdown.
The 46-year-old man was reported missing after failing to return to his holiday accommodation in Kinlochewe. He set out on the morning of 1 May 2019 with the intention of walking in the Fisherfield Forest, often referred to as the Great Wilderness.
The area contains several of the most inaccessible munros in Scotland and the team said it was believed he intended to climb at least one of those peaks before returning to his hotel.
Despite repeated searches conducted at the time by the Dundonnell team, Torridon MRT, Search and Rescue Dogs Scotland and Coastguard and Police Scotland helicopters Mr Rhodes was not found.
Following the search on Saturday, Dundonnell MRT members were called out in the early hours of Sunday to search for a walker who was reported missing the in Beinn Dearg mountains of the Fisherfield Forest.
The team was joined in the search by the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter and members of the Search and Rescue Dogs Association.
Andy Beaton of the Dundonnell team said: “The missing person was safely located later in the morning by search dog Meg and her handler Alison Smith.”
