Rescuers donned protective kit when they were called out to help an ambulance crew aid a walker with an injured leg.
Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team also decontaminated its equipment after the incident at Hollins Wood, Guiseley, West Yorkshire, on Friday.
The team was called out about 2.35pm at the request of Yorkshire Ambulance Service when the woman suffered a lower leg injury in woodland near the village of Esholt.
A team spokesperson said: “Following our revised callout protocol in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, a quick assessment of the request was completed and a selected group of CVSRT members were mobilised.
“Team members were kitted out with relevant personal protective equipment and adhered to all recommended precautions, to further safeguard against the Covid-19 virus, while dealing with the casualty.
“YAS provided pain relief and placed the injured leg in a splint and CVSRT packaged the casualty on to a stretcher and carried them to the awaiting ambulance.
“Once the casualty was transferred into the ambulance CVSRT completed a decontamination process on all equipment used before leaving site.”
The incident involved 14 volunteers from the Calder Valley team.

11 April 2020Thats a long way from home! Surely there should be someone nearer to help if needed? I live on their doorstep and when I broke my leg in similar circumstances the ambulance crew insisted on carrying me and refused all help.
