A walker was found safe and well after a major search involving three Lake District rescue teams.
The 83-year-old was reported overdue after embarking on a long trip over Yewbarrow, Red Pike, Scoat Fell, Haycock and Seatallan.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out early on Thursday and enlisted the help of colleagues from the Cockermouth and Duddon and Furness teams as the search area was so large.
Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs members also joined the operation to find the man.
A spokesperson for the Wasdale team said: “The walker was found safe and well between Seatallan and Greendale Tarn by a Keswick dog handler then walked back to Greendale by Duddon members.”

15 June 2018I will be well chuffed if I can still manage that round when I'm 83! By the look of his route, the chap must have descended Stirrup Crag - well done him. Also, I note that he was "found safe and well between Seatallan and Greendale Tarn", i.e. he was well on his way to completing the walk. RESPECT! Well done also to the 3 Mountain Rescue Teams and the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs.
It's reading reports such as this one that makes me happy to drop money into the MRT's collection boxes.

15 June 2018Great effort by an 83 year old man - no doubt a confident and experienced walker by the sound of things.
Walkers really need some system of being able to get in touch with M.R.Teams if they fall behind on the ETA at various points - to say all is ok (or not, as the case may be).
