A walker was rescued from a Lake District fell after getting stuck in high winds as Storm Doris swept across the area.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 12.50pm on Thursday after the 25-year-old man phoned police to say he was effectively cragfast on the side of Cat Bells because of the strength of the wind.
The team said weather warnings had been widely circulated.
A team spokesperson said: “After trying to talk him down, the team sent three team members to walk him off, which was achieved in about 25 minutes. Other members stood by at base but were not required.”
The 45-minute incident involved a total of 10 volunteers from Keswick MRT.
The team was in action again on Friday when a group called for help from Blencathra.
Team members were called out about 2.30pm when the walkers got into difficulties.
The spokesperson said: “A family group attempted to climb Blencathra by an unusual route, via the steep side of Gategill Fell.
“After they ran into snow cover, they discovered that this route was actually very slippery, and a bit beyond them. They were pinpointed with a Sarloc signal, and the team sent out a small group to assist them if necessary.
“It was suggested that if they were to carefully retrace their steps, they would come on to easier ground. This they managed to do, and four team members met up with them just above the stream junction below Middle Tongue.
“They were then escorted down to the foot of the fell.”
Ten team members were involved in the 1½-hour incident.
