Outdoor brand Montane has offered a sneak preview of some of its new clothing featuring Gore-Tex waterproofing, ahead of its commercial launch.
The Northumberland-based company is the first technical outdoor brand to secure a Gore licence in more than a decade.
It is producing a range of jackets and other outdoor gear which has Gore-Tex technology including Gore-Tex Pro, Gore-Tex Active, C-Knit backer and Windstopper.
The Montane Endurance Pro Jacket will sell for £430 and is a fully featured extreme conditions mountaineering shell, designed to cater for the technical requirements of climbers and alpinists.
It has 40-denier Gore-Tex Pro zoned with 70-denier Gore-Tex Pro, which Montane says offers ultimate weather protection and durability. The jacket has tailored ‘action back’ fit for dynamic movement, slightly larger chest and bicep dimensions to accommodate multiple layers and has a fully adjustable, roll-away helmet-compatible hood with wired peak combined with a tall collar.
Also using the Pro version of Gore-Tex, the Montane Alpine Pro Jacket will retail at £330. Montane describes it as an extremely versatile, lightweight and technical mountain shell, developed with and tested by Montane’s world-class athlete team.
It has lightweight and durable 40-denier Gore-Tex Pro and YKK AquaGuard waterproof zips for enhanced protection. It too has a fully adjustable, roll-away helmet compatible hood with wired peak combined with a tall collar and offers core body ventilation with angled pit zips. The jacket will be available in men’s and women’s styles.
The Montane Surge Jacket, at £300, uses Gore’s C-Knit backer technology, specially developed with hillwalkers in mind. It’s a lightweight, breathable mountain shell designed to offer versatile weather protection for mountain walkers and backpackers.
It uses waterproof 30-denier Gore’s C-Knit backer which is lightweight and comfortable next to the skin. The jacket has a fully adjustable roll-away hood with wired peak, backpack compatible A-line hand pockets with YKK matte AquaGuard zips and will come in men’s and women’s styles.
Montane’s Spine Jacket, with a price tag of £250, is a minimalist, breathable mountain trail running shell made with 30-denier Gore-Tex Active fabric. The company said it is engineered for high-intensity, high-output mountain-trail activities.
It has a fitted, pre-elasticated trail hood with laminated peak, minimalist pit zips for ventilation and will be available in men’s and women’s styles and also in pull-on version.
Montane’s Icemelt Thermo Glove will sell at £90 and is a technical warm mountaineering Gore-Tex glove. It has Granite Stretch softshell fabric with goat leather palm, fingers and thumb for suppleness, Gore-Tex waterproof inner layer and 170g PrimaLoft Gold Insulation on back of hand and fingers for optimal warmth.
It is made with pre-curved fingers and thumb combined with a gauntlet cuff, making it ideal for alpine activities.
Montane’s brand director Jonathan Petty said: “From the outset, our philosophy has always been about enabling aspiring athletes to go further, faster by offering a combination of premium, specifically selected fabric technologies, cutting edge construction techniques and ensuring that our clothing and accessories are designed for distinct outdoor mountain pursuits.
“Earning this Gore licence is a great testament to our development and passion for applying and adhering to these principles.
“We are excited that this new partnership will see outdoor enthusiasts benefit from Montane’s exclusive designs combined with the total weather protection offered by Gore-Tex.”
