A man’s body has been found by members of the public on a Glen Coe mountain.
Police said the family of missing walker Robin Garton has been informed of the discovery.
Members of Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team recovered the body from Stob Coire nam Beith after emergency services were alerted on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Garton, 69, of Devizes in Wiltshire, had been missing since September last year, when he checked out of the Kingshouse Hotel in Glen Coe. Police officers found Mr Garton’s black Volkswagen Passat estate car in the Achnambeithach car park, off the A82 by Loch Achtriochtan. They said they believed Mr Garton had made plans to walk in the Glen Coe area.
Police Scotland said Mr Garton’s family wished to thank the volunteers from Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team.
A spokesperson said: “Formal identification will now take place.”
Last month, Edward Davies’s body was found in the Glen Coe area. The 39-year-old Hampshire walker had embarked on a trip in the Highlands before going missing for 10 days.
The body of another missing walker was found in May near Loch Etchechan in the Cairngorms. Jim Robertson had not been seen since early March.
Three other walkers are still missing in the Highlands. Goffredo Bondanelli has not been seen for a month, after he embarked on a wild-camping trip in Lochaber.
Police Scotland said the 56-year-old was last seen in Fort William on 3 May boarding a train to Lochailort before undertaking a five-day 76km (47-mile) walk which should have returned him to Glenfinnan on 8 May.
German national Mr Bondanelli would have been camping out on nearby hills and munros during this five day period at sites including Coire na Cnamha, Lochan Fèith Easain and Sgùrr an Utha, police said.
Tom Brown and Eric Cyl failed to return from trips in the Steall area of Lochaber last year and have still not been found.
