A walker has died after falling from a ridge in Snowdonia.
The man, in his 30s, was with two others attempting to descend Crib Goch on Saturday when he fell.
Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, which was called out late in the morning after being alerted to the incident, said he fell a significant distance from the grade-one scrambling route.
The group had decided to come down the route, part of the Snowdon Horseshoe, because of worsening weather.
The Caernarfon Coastguard helicopter joined 15 volunteer team members in the operation to reach the fallen walker. A Llanberis MRT spokesperson said: “We are sad to report that the walker did not survive the fall.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of our fellow hill-goer.”

11 April 2016Grade 1 scrambles should be subdivided like grades at the opposite end of the scale are (8a,8b,8c,8a+,8b+,8c+ etc) Hill walkers are lured to precipitous crags with real risk of death by the Grade 1 Scramble grading.

11 April 2016Dude that's barely a scramble unless you go direct but your system, preferably with the grades painted onto the rock would be perfect

30 August 2016Very sad outcome after adventure on Crib Goch, I have been across this ridge many times as part of Horseshoe.
This ridge (grade 1) scramble along with others should be regarded as mountaineering.
Hill walking is considered part of mountaineering. People are lured into thinking places like Crib Goch "are a stroll in the park".
