Kayaker Jason Chung Yai-Ho had not been seen since January

A body has been found on the Isle of Rùm.

Police said they recovered the man’s body from the shore of the island after being alerted by a member of the public.

Officers and Coastguard staff went to the scene on Good Friday and brought the remains back to the mainland.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The family of Jason Chung Wai-Ho, who has been missing from the Arisaig area since 13 January, has been informed.

“A further update will be issued when formal identification is complete.”

Mr Chung Wai-Ho was spotted launching his kayak at Traigh beach north of Arisaig more than two months ago.

Extensive searches by Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, Skye Mountain Rescue Team, Search and Rescue Dogs Association, HM Coastguard rescue teams and RNLI lifeboat personnel failed to find the 39-year-old Glasgow man.

Rùm lies about 25km (16 miles) north-west of Arisaig.
