The Vango Fuse -12C

A British brand has unveiled what it says is the first four-season sleeping bag using a hybrid down and 4T synthetic insulation.

Vango’s Fuse range blends down and synthetic fibres to improve warmth-to-weight ratio, by trapping air in its patented channel structure.

Vango said: “Designed specifically for year-round adventures, the Fuse incorporates Vango’s new and innovative Insulite Fusion Technology, which combines ethically sourced 70 per cent 90/10 700 fill-power Hydro-Barrier Duck Down with 30 per cent 4T synthetic insulation, into a compact, warm and lightweight sleeping bag, resistant to wet conditions.

“The Hydro-Barrier Down inside the Fuse keeps it drier four times longer than untreated down, while the interlinked lattice fibres provide support to achieve superior, even loft, when wet or dry.

“Its box-wall construction allows the down to be contained in box-shaped baffles to provide maximum loft, while giving even coverage of insulation from head to toe. The insulated and adjustable shoulder baffles stop heat escaping through the hood of the bag, while the 3D insulated zip baffle minimises heat loss through the zip.”

The Vango sleeping bags come in three versions: the Fuse -12C sells at £220; the -6C at £180, and the 2C at £130.

The range features a 30 denier mini-ripstop nylon shell. This abrasion resistant and durable shell has a water-resistant finish to protect the insulation from condensation and damp conditions.

There is an internal pocket for small essentials and the bags feature the Arrow Foot, a shaped foot area allowing feet to relax into their natural position.

The Fuse 2C is the lightest in the range

The Fuse range has Omega shaping, engineered to position zips and seams in the bottom half of the bag for better heat retention and a neat, comfortable fit around the shoulders and there is a 3D hood with multi-cord closure which means the head and shoulders are kept warmer during the night. The hood’s multi-cord adjustment uses two thicknesses of cord so it can be easily adjusted in the dark.

The full-length two-way auto-lock zip with has a zip guard, used to seal in warmth or provide ventilation and can be used from inside the bag. Anti-catch piping helps to prevent the zip from snagging on the lining. The sleeping bags come with a roll top dry bag – roll 3 times for a sealed, watertight bag.
