Safe water is essential if you’re wild camping, backpacking or just heading out on an extended walk or heading to far-off shores.
Ensuring you are correctly hydrated is an essential part of staying fit and healthy. Drinking enough water offers health benefits including increased energy, reduced fatigue and regulated body temperature.
Lifesystems has made it easy to enjoy a drink wherever you are with its newly updated range of chlorine dioxide water treatment products.
The company said: “Convenient and easy-to-use, sterilise untreated water while away from a normal water source with Lifesystems’ popular chlorine dioxide tablets.
“They have been updated with new, user-friendly packaging that makes treating water on the move even easier. Supplied in a handy and durable plastic box with a secure clip closure, the chlorine dioxide tablets’ new packaging has been designed to cope easily with the exertions of life on the move.
“Instructions on how to use the tablets have been included on a long-lasting waterproof label inside the box’s lid, reducing the risk of them becoming lost and the tablets being used incorrectly.”
The pack contains enough to treat 30 litres of water. Lifesystems chlorine dioxide tablets kill bacteria, viruses and cysts in the water including giardia and cryptosporidium.
Lifesystems said: “One of the safest and most effective forms of water disinfectant, simply put one tablet in a litre of water and gently swirl it around. After around 10 minutes, the water will be safe to drink.
“If the water is very cold or the user suspects it might have harmful viruses in it, two tablets should be dissolved and the treatment time extended to 30 minutes. Unlike other chemical treatments, chlorine dioxide doesn’t leave any noticeable aftertaste.”
Lifesystems also offers chlorine dioxide in a convenient droplet format. Again featuring waterproof labels, the chlorine dioxide droplets treat up to 60 litres of water and comes complete with a handy mixing clip.
The tablets cost £10.50 and are included in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award recommended list. The droplets pack costs £7.25. More details are on the Lifesystems website.
