A kayaker who was last seen launching his craft almost a week ago on the west coast of Scotland is still missing.
Extensive searches failed to find Glasgow man Jason Chung Wai-Ho who was spotted at Traigh beach north of Arisaig on Wednesday 13 January.
Searches continued without success over the weekend.
Police Scotland said its officers were joined in the operation by the force’s helicopter and dog handlers. A spokesperson said: “Invaluable assistance was also provided by Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, Skye Mountain Rescue Team, Search and Rescue Dog Association, HM Coastguard rescue teams and RNLI lifeboat personnel.”
The 39-year-old was seen at the beach with a single-person inflatable kayak.
Inspector Donald Campbell said: “Unfortunately despite extensive search efforts over the weekend we haven’t yet located Jason or his kayak.
“We are very grateful for the assistance from partner agencies and members of the local community and will continue to draw upon their expertise during the search for Jason.
“We are keeping Jason’s family up to date and would reiterate our appeal to anyone who may have seen someone matching his description in the area to make contact as a matter of urgency. All information received, even it seems insignificant, will be followed up and utilised as part of our search efforts going forward.”
Mr Chung Wai-Ho is described as 5ft 8in (1.73m) tall with short dark hair and beard. He was last seen wearing a black waterproof jacket, black waterproof trousers and a black buoyancy aid. tall with short dark hair and beard. His car, a red 2003 Toyota Corolla, was found parked nearby.
