A woman who co-founded an outdoors brand is returning to the company as an adviser.
Climbers Liz and Royal Robbins created the Royal Robbins brand in California in 1968.
The brand became widely known for its casual and clothing and commitment to innovation, style, and durability. Today, its travel clothing range sells worldwide, including the UK.
Liz Robbins will work closely with Royal Robbins’s newly appointed chief executive Michael Millenacker to reinvigorate the company’s position in the outdoor market. In the 1990s, Millenacker worked closely with the Robbinses as Royal Robbins’s sales and marketing director. After Royal and Liz Robbins sold the company in 2000, he departed to broaden his outdoor industry experience. Since then, he has served as president of Eagle Creek and vice-president of sales at The North Face.
Ms Robbins said: “It’s exciting to be back working with the company Royal and I founded.
“Our guideline, style with mountaineering heritage, is as relevant today as it was in the 1970s when our focus was on Yosemite Valley climbers. It is with Royal’s encouragement that I’m joining the new team led by Michael Millenacker.”
Mr Millenacker said: “I am thrilled to work with Liz again.
“Her unparalleled knowledge of Royal Robbins’s culture and heritage will help us better tell our brand’s story and reconnect our audience to our unique heritage.”
