Police want the public to get in touch if they are offered cheap high-quality jackets

Police have warned the public to be on the lookout for anyone offering cheap outdoor jackets for sale after thieves targeted a Cumbrian retailer.

Jackets worth £10,000 were stolen in the raid on Mad About Mountains in Kirkby Stephen.

Women’s and men’s garments were stolen in the early hours of Monday from the shop’s premises in Market Street.

Cumbria Constabulary is appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity at the front of the premises on the night in question.

Detective Constable Ian Hodgson of North Cumbria CID said: “Any incident of this nature is treated seriously and we urge the public to come forward with any information that may assist us with this ongoing investigation.

“In particular we are appealing to anyone who is offered expensive outdoor jackets at a much cheaper rate than the normal retail price, especially in the run up to Christmas.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to an officer from North Cumbria CID. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
