A walker was rescued from a Yorkshire Dales hillside after suffering an ankle injury.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 11.25am on Tuesday to Watlowes, the dry valley above Malham Cove.

A team spokesperson said: “On arrival, a team casualty carer carried out an assessment of the casualty, who was then splinted and given pain relief before being stretchered back to a CRO vehicle for transport down to Malham, from where they were transported to hospital by road vehicle.”

It was the team’s 72nd rescue of the year.
