One of Britain’s top mountaineers will recount tales of his exploits during a tour of outdoor shops.

Alan Hinkes, the only Briton to have summited all the world’s 8,000m peaks, will visit 10 Cotswold Outdoor stores later this month.

The tour, supported by Scandinavian brand Fjällräven, will see the Yorkshire-based climber and adventurer deliver a series of talks about his greatest adventures, both in the Himalaya and closer to home.

Fjällräven said: “Boasting an extraordinary mountaineering track record, Alan’s frank and humorous accounts make any of his talks a must-see for keen outdoor-enthusiasts.

“The talks in this series will cover many of his best known expeditions including his numerous trips climbing in the Himalaya.

“Focusing specifically on his amazing experiences climbing Everest, K2 and Kanchenjunga, Alan will also share accounts of his recent adventures in the UK and Europe including ice climbing in Scotland and Norway, trekking through the Arctic wilderness and exploring the remote island of St Kilda.

Tickets for the talks cost £10 and the tour starts in Aberdeen on 19 October then visits Edinburgh, Manchester Deansgate, Belfast City, Keswick, Plas y Brenin, Birmingham, Exeter, Tunbridge Wells and South Cerney. Tickets are available in stores or by phoning participating shops.
