A climber was rescued after falling from a popular Peak District crag.
The woman fell and suffered a suspected broken leg when she came off the rock and hit a ledge at Stanage Edge today, Saturday.
She was leading a route near Flying Buttress when she fell.
Edale Mountain Rescue Team was called out to the incident about 1.30pm.
A team spokesperson said: “The fall was arrested but she was left suspended.
“Fortunately a nearby climbing instructor was on hand who was able to rig a rescue lower and safely get the lady to the ground. Team members arrived and treated the suspected fractured leg with a splint and gave pain relief before placing the lady into our stretcher for the carry off to the ambulance.”
It was the second Saturday in succession the Edale team has had to deal with an injured climber at Stanage.

12 October 2015I am the lady mentioned in this article and I would like to send a huge thanks to the Edale Mountain Rescue Team and to Rob Davies who lowered me safely from the ledge. Their compassion and professionalism was just what was needed. Also a big thanks to the other climbers who helped move the stretcher and to my wonderful climbing friends who are continuing to support me. I have an operation to rebuild my lower left leg and while my recovery will take some time, I hope to be back out on the rocks next summer.
