Cyclists will benefit from a major investment at youth hostels across England and Wales.
Internal and external bike locking facilities, bike pump stations and repair tools at will be provided at 25 YHA venues.
More than £¼ is being spent on the project, with YHA providing £108,000 and local authorities and national parks chipping in £161,500.
A second phase of provisions for cyclists is also planned for later this year.
Caroline White, chief executive of YHA (England and Wales) said: “We’re delighted this funding will enable us to further boost our efforts to improve cycling facilities across the YHA network.
“It is further commitment to making youth hostels more accessible so people can discover the wonderful experiences the UK can offer.”
Hostels to benefit range from Berwick to Dartmoor, and include centres in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Peak District, North York Moors and the South Downs, as well as Lea Valley in London.
