An award-winning lightweight stove is now on sale after more than two years in development.
MSR’s WindBoiler personal stove system is in the shops now and offers faster boiling times than its competitors, the Seattle-based company said.
The stove has an ultra-efficient radiant burner with an enclosed design that means less fuel is used. MSR said a half litre of water will boil in 2mins 45secs when the stove is operated in a 12mph (19kph) wind.
A built-in heat exchanger also makes for more efficient heating and reliability.
The WindBoiler, which won a 2014 OutDoor Industry Award, is a development of the Alpinist-oriented Reactor Stove System.
MSR said: “The WindBoiler’s smart construction also restricts flames from singing the insulated cosy and handle, even in strong winds.
“Built for one to two backpackers, the system features an intuitive, easy-to-use, handheld design. The compact pot twists onto the windproof burner for a secure, non-slip fit. The integrated full-size bowl allows minimalists to comfortably cook and serve enough food for one to two companions.
“The WindBoiler’s clear BPA-free lid plays triple duty: it features a strainer, a drinking lid, and is coffee-press compatible.”
Chris Parkhurst, vice-president of MSR, said: “We’re very excited about the WindBoiler and the performance it offers our outdoor users.
“It’s been in the making for more than 2½ years and has gone through an incredible amount of testing. We’re thrilled to see it launch with such excitement and anticipation.”
The MSR WindBoiler Personal Stove System and accessories are available to buy now in selected retailers at a recommended retail price of £110.00.
Accessories include a 1.0 litre Accessory Pot, WindBoiler Coffee Press Kit and the WindBoiler Hanging Kit.
