Outdoor enthusiasts heading for Fort William are being warned that a landslip has closed the main road south of the town.
Police Scotland said the A82 is closed in both directions at Corrychurrachan, about 5 miles (8km) from the town.
Traffic Scotland said it did not know how long the road would be closed, and advised motorists heading to and from the Lochaber town to use an alternative route.
- Update: police expect the A82 to remain closed overnight.
They also said a number of people were marooned on the road between two blockages this morning at the site.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Those stuck were able to continue on their journey after engineers from Bear Scotland and the Forestry Commission attended to clear the road.
“The road was blocked for approximately five hours and officers have been on scene to provide reassurance to those affected.”
Inspector Donald Campbell said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who were stuck between the blockages for their good spirit and patience while we dealt with the incident.
“The road is expected to be closed overnight as engineers will be working to assess the area.”

26 October 2014Er, the alternative route is either a million mile drive eastwards or the Ferry to Corran. Believe it or not I was going to be there this weekend, but bad weather cancelled it. Phew, lucky escape!

27 October 2014We were on that road a few months ago and they were tree felling on a steep banking, with traffic lights in operation.
We thought at the time it was leaving that area bare and exposed. Wonder if that was where the landslide was ?
