One of Petzl’s favourite headtorches will get a boost with an upgraded LED.
A new model of the Myo RXP will boast illumination of 280 lumens, up from the present rating of 140 lumens.
The upgraded Myo is due in the shops next year and will still feature the headtorch’s programmable modes and will include a temporary boost mode which will deliver 370 lumens.
The Petzl headtorch, part of its performance range, will still enable users to choose illumination modes, from shorter stints at full power to battery-saving lower levels.
The new Myo RXP will retail at £80.
Also unveiled by Petzl at this summer’s Kendal Outdoors Retail Show was a new range of mountaineering axes aimed at walkers up to glacier travel and winter routes up to grade III.
The Glacier and Glacier Literide have straight shafts made from aluminium, but with steel picks. They will retail at £70 and £65 respectively.
The Summit and Summit Evo’s shafts are curved to allow better use on steep slopes. Petzl says the Summit, at £95 offers an excellent balance between price and performance.
The Summit Evo will retail at £120 and is aimed at all types of Alpine trips.
The new Petzl tools will go on sale in 2015.
