The two-person Aravis

There’s a new range of backpacking tents in the shops from Coleman, released in time for the peak summer season.

All feature 7001-T6 aluminium poles and ripstop polyester flysheets, rated to 4,000mm hydrostatic head and with polyurethane coating and taped seams.

Inner tents on the four-model range are in breathable polyester with anti-midge mesh and groundsheets are again in PU-coated polyester, with a 5,000mm rating and taped seams.

Each of the four models comes in two- or three-person versions.

The lightest, the two-person Aravis weighs 2.4kg, with the three-berth version just under a kilo heavier. It’s a quick to pitch, wedged tunnel construction. Multiple doors and adjustable ventilation offer increased performance and two separate porches make it easy to keep gear organised.

Prices are £149.99 and £169.99 respectively.

The three-person Tatra tips the scales at 3.75kg, with its smaller version 3.4kg. Coleman said: “Ultra-stable, the Tatra boasts a wind-resistant, semi-geodesic construction.

“Inside, the Tatra’s spacious design promises a comfortable night’s sleep and the addition of a large porch is great for storing gear. Two doors offer increased pitching convenience while no-see-um mesh and a fully integrated groundsheet guarantee clean, dry and bug-free camping.”

Prices for the Tatra are £199.99, and for the two-person £179.99

The Monviso’s extended dome structure offers more headroom. “An ultra-spacious porch is ideal for storing muddy boots or cooking gear,” Coleman said. “The ultra-durable, ripstop flysheet easily stands up to the exertions of the outdoors and summit ventilation provides optimum airflow.”

The three-person tent costs £189.99 and the smaller version £159.99, weighing 3.65kg and 3.05kg.

The Caucasus is a large and tunnel tent, ideal for multi-stop trips, the company said. “The generously sized porch provides plenty of room for storing gear and two doors offer increased protection on entry and exit, even if the wind direction changes,” it added.

Weights are 3.65kg and 3.15kg, priced at £189.99 and £169.99.
