Five mountain rescue teams mounted a major search for a family lost at night on the Peak District’s highest hill.
Edale Mountain Rescue Team joined colleagues from the Buxton, Kinder and Glossop teams late on Sunday evening after the family of four got lost on Kinder Scout in poor weather as night fell.
Derby MRT was also called out to search for the group, which included young children.
Martin Gorman of Edale MRT said Search and Rescue Dogs Association members joined the teams combing the high ground on the hill.
He said: “At around 3am, the group was found on the northern edge of Kinder Scout by one of the search dog teams.
“After being revived with food and hot drinks, they were escorted off the hill, arriving back at team vehicles around dawn.”
The Edale team had earlier broken off its traditional Easter fundraising events to treat a seriously injured climber.
The 27-year-old woman fell 5m (16ft) on Rivelin Edge. She suffered a serious head injury and multiple spinal fractures.
Mr Gorman said: “She was treated by team members and staff from Yorkshire Ambulance Service before being carefully extricated from the crag and carried down to the road for transport to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.”
On Easter Saturday, the team treated two cyclists involved in an accident close to where they were collecting donations in Hathersage.
Mr Gorman said: “The team members swung into action using their casualty care skills and team equipment to treat the injured, one with a fractured collar bone and the other with a head injury, before the ambulance service arrived.”
