A walker had to be rescued from a Lake District fell after getting stuck on an exposed crag.
The 51-year-old, who was walking on his own on Pillar, was rescued by Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team today after he ventured on to Pillar Rock, the rocky outlier to the North of the 892m (2,927ft) mountain.
The rescuers were called out at 3.20pm to help the Suffolk man.
A team spokesperson said: “The team located him in a precarious position on the west face.
“They rigged ropes and lowered a team member to him, from where he was rescued on to safer ground.”
The rescue involved 19 volunteers from the team.
Pillar Rock has two main scrambling routes, both rated grade 3, and more than 100 rock-climbing routes, graded from Difficult to E4.
