A walker was airlifted to hospital after breaking her leg on a fell in the Yorkshire Dales.

The 41-year-old slipped while coming down a steep slope on Park Fell towards Chapel-le Dale today.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out at 12.40pm to the incident on the hill, an outlier of Ingleborough.

A CRO spokesperson said: “Initial location information was vague but use of Sarloc, the mountain rescue mobile phone location app, confirmed an exact position.”

Team members treated her badly fractured leg at the scene before stretchering her down to a landing site where an air ambulance flew her for further treatment.
