An RAF Sea King airlifted the walker, who suffered serious injuries

A walker was airlifted to hospital after falling from Scotland’s second-highest mountain.

The man slid more 250m (820ft) down a crag in Coire Sputan Dearg on the eastern slopes of Ben MacDui on Sunday.

Rescuers were alerted after the 25-year-old fell about 3.30pm. He was found three hours later after an operation involving Braemar, Aberdeen and Police Scotland Mountain Rescue Teams.

He was treated at the scene then stretchered from the mountainside before being airlifted by an RAF search and rescue Sea King helicopter to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Police Scotland said conditions were ‘challenging’.

The man was with friends from England visiting the area.
