Mountain rescuers have thanked shoppers who boosted their funds by more than £1,500 in a fundraising day.
Edale Mountain Rescue also had a visit from a group of Ozzy Osbourne lookalikes who lent their support during the event in Sheffield.
A team spokesperson said the sum was a fantastic amount to receive in difficult economic times.
The spokesperson said: “Edale Mountain Rescue Team, like all teams in England and Wales is funded almost entirely by public donations and, with no paid staff, every penny we raise goes towards providing rescue services for locals and visitors alike.”
The team, which covers the high ground and climbing honeypots of the Peak District, is also benefiting from a miniature Santa making his way around a mountain tableau.
The gingerbread Father Christmas has been made by Emily Reynolds at the Outside Cafe in Hathersage and also has a mountain rescue reindeer and elves supporting him in his sweet endeavours.
The cafe is selling edible Christmas cards, gingerbread characters and decorations to raise funds for the team.
The spokesperson said: “So far in 2013, Edale Team has responded to 106 callouts. Many thanks and a very happy Christmas to everyone who has supported us during the year.”
