The Ulvetanna Pro jacket
Berghaus has unveiled its top of the range jackets for this winter, using three–layer Gore-Tex Pro.
The fabric claims better durability and 28 per cent more breathability than the previous version and is incorporated into the brand’s most technical Extrem and Mountain ranges.
The Gore-Tex fabric is also used in a number of high performance trousers from Berghaus hitting the shops for winter 2013.
Top of the jacket range is the Ulvetanna Pro, retailing at £370.
Direct input from the brand’s athletes, including climber Leo Houlding, has guided the Sunderland company, and the jacket has a unique, multi-adjustable hood that can be drawn tight against the harshest conditions, or loosened around the lower face so moisture from breath isn’t trapped inside.
Streamlined 3D vents keep the core body cool while in action, driving an ‘air scoop’ around the areas where most heat builds up. All of the jacket’s features are designed for extended use by committed mountaineers in the harshest conditions, Berghaus said. The Ulvetanna Pro weighs in at 650g for a size large.
The women's Mirgin La II jacket
The new generation of 3L Gore-Tex Pro fabric is also used in the men’s Kangchenjunga Jacket, costing £330 and Oktang Bib Pant, at £300 and in the women’s Mirgin La Jacket, which is in the shops at £330.
The men’s (£300) and women’s (£290) Antelao Jackets are both versatile mountain shells in 3L Gore-Tex Pro, selling at £300 and £290 respectively.
Berghaus said: “Packed with useful features, they are at home all year round in the mountains, whether climbing, ski mountaineering, scrambling or tackling high terrain ridges or via ferrata.
“Key features include a fixed and adjustable full mountain hood with peak, five pockets, a two-way centre front YKK AquaGuard zip, articulated sleeves, hook and loop bonded cuff tabs, dual hem adjustment with concealed cord lock and detachable snow skirts with pant attachment points.”
Men’s and women’s Antelao Pants, retailing at £270, also incorporate 3L Gore-Tex Pro, reinforced with hard wearing Schoeller Keprotec, Kevlar kicker patches.
The trousers feature full-length two-way YKK AquaGuard side zips, three pockets, detachable braces, removable gaiters, diamond gussets and articulated knee panels. Berghaus said the trousers are ideal for alpine climbing, ski mountaineering and any other high mountain adventures, whether on foot or ski.
