Hillwalkers face severe gales over the next couple of days as a storm approaches Britain.
The Met Office has issued an amber warning of high winds in the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia throughout Monday, and the Mountain Weather Information Service said gusts of up to 80mph were possible on Sunday.
MWIS said heavy rain will accompany the winds for a period today, moving north-eastward, affecting the Welsh mountains.
Although summit temperatures will rise to 8C, the severe wind-chill will make the temperature on mountain tops throughout Britain feel more like –8C.
In Scotland, snow is likely on the tops on Sunday and Monday as the winds back to a north-westerly direction as the storm moves across southern and central England.
Possible thunderstorms throughout the weekend and on Monday complete a thoroughly miserable weather picture for outdoor enthusiasts over the next few days.
MWIS said the unsettle weather is likely to continue over the next fortnight, with a series of Atlantic lows hitting the UK, bringing frequent heavy rain and strong winds. Temperatures on Scottish mountains will probably stay above freezing apart from a few brief dips below zero, the meteorologists said.
- Outdoor fans will also have one hour less daylight at the end of the day from Sunday with the ending of British Summer Time and the putting back of clocks across the UK and Europe.
