A walker with an injured leg was rescued from the slopes of the Peak District’s second highest hill.
The 63-year-old woman called for help on Wednesday evening from the Doctor’s Gate footpath on the southern flanks of Bleaklow.
Glossop Mountain Team members left their training session and went to the aid of the walker, near the Doctor’s Gate footbridge, about 7.30pm.
Peter Jozefczyk of the Glossop team said: “The woman was quickly located by the team’s fast search party and treated on scene for what seemed to be strained muscle due to fatigue.
“The woman was then put on to a stretcher and carried to the team’s 4×4 ambulance, which was waiting near Mossy Lea Farm.”
An Edale MRT medic joined 18 volunteer Glossop MRT members in the rescue, which lasted just over two hours.
The following day, the team took part in a search for a missing walker who reported himself lost on Kinder Scout.
Two Search and Rescue Dogs Association animals and handlers joined the search with Glossop MRT members and 24 from the Kinder team.
The walker eventually managed to get himself unlost and the volunteer mountain rescue team members were stood down from the search.
Kinder team leader Neale Pinkerton said: “A walker reported themselves lost to Derbyshire Police but with no other details than they were walking from Glossop to Edale.
“A brief conversation suggested they may be in the vicinity of Mill Hill.
“Parties from two teams were despatched due to the very poor weather conditions.
“During the course of the initial search, the casualty reported themselves as being safe to the police so the mountain rescue teams were stood down.”
