The woman injured herself coming down the Old Man of Coniston

A walker was stretchered from a Lake District fell after slipping and injuring her leg.

The woman was coming down from the Old Man of Coniston on Saturday evening when she suffered the injury.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 6.30pm and 13 volunteer team members were called out to deal with the incident.

A team spokesperson said: “The party of three was located easily near Bursting Stone Quarry and the lady was treated for a leg injury by team members.”

They then stretchered her to a team Land Rover which took her to the Coniston MRT headquarters.

Her family then took her to hospital.
