A woman had to be rescued after injuring her ankle at a Cumbrian beauty spot.

Kendal Mountain Rescue Team was called out yesterday to help ambulance paramedics after the woman slipped on a steep path down to the River Lune near Devil’s Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale.

She was treated at the scene and then stretchered up the river bank and carried a short distance to the waiting ambulance.

The team was then treated to ice creams from a nearby ice-cream van.

The Kendal team was also called out on Saturday to Scout Scar after a walker injured her knee.

She was treated at the scene by team members before being stretchered to a waiting ambulance in the nearby car park.
