A climber was rescued after falling from a Devon cliff.
The 32-year-old woman fell yesterday evening while climbing at Walls Hill, Torquay.
Her climbing companion raised the alarm at 8.20pm and rescuers discovered the climber on a ledge about 6m (20ft) from the base of the cliff, below an overhang on the 45m (150ft) cliffs.
Coastguard crews went to the scene and requested the Portland Coastguard helicopter.
Teignmouth Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s boat also went to the site, along with Coastguard Rescue Teams from Torbay and Teignmouth.
A paramedic and Coastguard officers were lowered down the cliffs to the woman and the lifeboat also put a paramedic ashore to treat the woman.
She was stretchered on to the RNLI craft which then took her ashore a short distance away where an ambulance was waiting to take her to hospital.
Brixham Coastguard watch manager Dave Scullion said: “This was a complex operation involving many rescue units and is a good example of the rescue services working well together.”
