Police have solved the mystery of a tent found near a Torridon mountain.
They believed the tent had been abandoned in the Beinn Eighe national nature reserve to the North-West of Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair.
But Police Scotland said today that the owner of the tent, which was said to be in good condition, has made contact with them.
Posting a comment on grough’s original story, Graham said: “I spoke to the police, having seen the tent last Saturday, and got told they’ve located him.
“He’s a geologist who’s heading up and down the hill over the course of the week. Sounds like all’s well.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police would like to thank the public for their assistance.”

30 July 2013it may have been a good idea to fix a laminated Personal Details card and contact tel no inside the tent, prehaps with the persons intentions for being there.
please pass this comment on to the person just in case they do this again and waist valuable Police time and Tax payers money ;-)

30 July 2013pardon me Sean, but I might think if someone put an ''I've gone up the mountain for a couple of days'' ticket on their tent there'd be a good chance some unscrupulous type might up sticks and rob it.. at least leaving it as is leaves any would be thief in two minds that the owner could reappear any minute...
mind you letting the local mrt team or police even wouldnt be a bad idea...

03 June 2014Best to leave A NOK (next of kin) Card in the Tent , with A Telephone Number on it , land line and mobile.
and your Name.
i wouldn't personally leave my intentions in the tent , the MRT / Police will be able to contact your NOK and get it from them hopefully, if you leave a copy map and rough info ETA ETD etc.
rather than coming back to find the tents either been stolen or the MRT have removed it.

any MRT or Police Experts out there who could advise ?
