The Highland house owned by the disgraced late television celebrity Jimmy Savile goes on sale today.
Allt na Reigh in Glencoe is up for auction this evening with a guide price of £100,000.
The single-storey, two-bedroom cottage was formerly owned by Hamish MacInnes, a major player in Scottish mountaineering and mountain rescue, who still lives in Glencoe.
The white cottage was repeatedly targeted by vandals following revelations after his death of Savile’s prolific sexual abuse of women, girls and boys.
Highland councillor Andrew Baxter also called for the cottage to be demolished.
The property is being sold by Ross Harper at the Grand Central Hotel in Scotland.
The auctioneers describe the property, also named Allt na Ruigh on some Ordnance Survey maps, as a traditional refurbished detached cottage sitting within its own policies. It is in an attractive location within scenic Highland countryside, the firm adds.
Allt na Reigh featured in a television programme in which Louis Theroux interviewed the now despised Yorkshire DJ and television presenter.
Savile was well known in his heyday for sitting on the porch of the property and waving at passers-by on the main road through Glencoe.
The cottage sits in the shadow of The Three Sisters and Aonach Eagach and has, according to the auctioneers, two waterfalls in its grounds which provide water for the property.
Ross Harper says in its Allt na Reigh description: “Glencoe is one of Scotland’s most popular outdoor destinations.
“It is also popular with hillwalkers and is situated within arguably some of the most stunning countryside in the west coast. The village of Glencoe provides a good selection of local shops and amenities.”
The auction starts at 7.30pm today.
