The woman was treated after her slip at Long Scar on the slopes of Ingleborough

A runner was rescued after slipping and injuring herself in a fell race.

The 18-year-old was taking part in the Austwick Fell Race in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday when she injured her leg on the slopes of Ingleborough.

The Cave Rescue Organisations, whose members were already in the village for a bank holiday event, went to the aid of the runner near Long Scar above Crummack Dale about 1.50pm.

A second team vehicle made its way to the scene from Clapham and the woman was treated at the scene by team members before being brought by one of the vehicles to Clapham where an ambulance was waiting.

The rescue was the team’s 28th of the year.
