Zamberlan, best known for its walking boots, has produced a new lightweight shoe for spring.
The Crosser is especially aimed at ‘those who love speed hiking’.
What hiking? You might ask.
Speed hiking comes somewhere between fellrunning and walking and is big in continental Europe and America. It usually involves walking poles and is therefore akin to Nordic walking, but at a faster pace, with participants often breaking into a canter.
Zamberlan said the Crosser features its exclusive five-piece, dual-density EVA midsole and Vibram outsole, which is enhanced with TPU stabilisers and heel counters.
“Uppers include a Kevlar rand which wraps a synthetic upper enhanced with TPU insets and Gore-Tex membranes creating a comfortable and very lightweight environment for the foot which is perfect for conquering both the quick route and the long trails in a very lightweight shoe design,” it added.
The Italian brand said: “Speed hiking incorporates an athletic and skilful combination of the fundamentals of running, hiking and Nordic walking.
“The key elements are being totally unhindered and efficient movements carried out at a pace individuals can enjoy – no matter how far the distance you intend to travel or how fit you are.
“The enduring popularity of any kind of hiking or Nordic walking is mostly the thoroughly enjoyable simplicity and accessibility of it all.
“The Zamberlan Crosser is the footwear design that enables individuals to engage in the full spectrum and enjoyment that speed hiking offers.”
The Crosser retails at £120 and tips the scales at 800g a pair. More details are on the Zamberlan website.
