Mr Dennier's Polo was found in Knoydart

Police have found the car of a hillwalker who was reported missing on Monday.

Northern Constabulary said Clive Dennier’s silver VW Polo was found in Knoydart.

Extensive searches took place across the Highlands for the 50-year-old journalist from Inverness and the public was asked to be on the lookout for his car.

Police said it was discovered, west of Invergarry, as part of a coordinated search strategy.

A Northern Constabulary spokesperson said: “As a result of this development, organised searches of the area have now commenced.

“At this time two mountain rescue teams, police search dogs are deployed to the search.

“Mr Dennier’s family have been updated. This remains a very anxious time for them.”

Mr Dennier, a keen hillwalker, was reported missing by his colleagues on the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald when he failed to turn up to work.

Knoydart is often called Britain’s last wilderness. The western coast is only accessible by boat and there is no road connection to the rest of the Highlands west of Kinloch Hourn.
