Boot brand brasher has added to its range with a lightweight model pitched at the less extreme end of the walking spectrum.
The Supalite Active GTX is described as ideal for leisurely walks and kicking around the campsite. According to the Sunderland-based brand, they’re also smart enough for a stop-off in the local pub or country cafe.
The boots weigh in at 1,048g for a pair of size nines.
brasher, which has built its reputation on its boots being comfortable straight out of the box, said those who have tested out the new boots so far have described them as being ‘as comfortable as a pair of trainers’.
A spokesperson added the new Supalite Active GTX offers all of brasher’s renowned walking DNA and engineered walking comfort.
Key features include: 1.4mm to 1.6mm lightweight, breathable and abrasion resistant Wolverine pigskin suede upper with fabric panels to save weight but retain durability.
The Bi-flex cushioned insole board gives flexibility and trainer-like feel, brasher said, and the lightweight Supalite sole unit has shock-absorbing EVA midsole for excellent grip.
The Supalite Active GTXs also have an engineered tongue system for enhanced comfort, rubberised toe and heel for extra protection and Gore-Tex Extended Comfort Footwear waterproof and breathable lining.
The Supalite Active GTX is available in men’s and women’s specific sizes and colours are military/black for men and carbon/grey for women.
It will be available in store this month, selling at £130 a pair.
A further addition to the brasher range is the Hillwalker Sock.
The British-made, gender specific socks have also been designed and tested in the UK.
The company said: “The new men’s and women’s specific socks use premium yarns and technologies proven to offer gender specific benefits in warmer climates.
“After all, men’s and women’s feet are very different, with women feeling the cold much more than men but not producing as much moisture.
“brasher’s Hillwalker sock delivers the perfect balance of padding, moisture and temperature control needed to ensure walking comfort on the hills in summer months. It complements brasher’s existing Hillwalker II GTX boots perfectly.”
The women’s sock uses Thermo° Cool Technology which regulates the body’s natural temperature and acts as a thermal buffer.
Other women’s specific features include:
- A soft fit cuff which gently holds the sock in place
- Soft knit leg which provides all day comfort and allows the leg to breathe
- A ventilation panel on the top of the foot to keep feet cool and dry
- High density padding in the heel, Achilles tendon, toes, ball and top of the foot for enhance walking comfort.
The men’s version uses Coolmax fibres which provide quick drying, fast wicking and moisture control. Other men’s specific features include:
- A comfort fit cuff to gently hold the sock in place
- Comfort leg fit to give all day comfort and warmth
- Ventilation panels on both sides of the sock to combat excess moisture and control temperature
- Lycra support bands in the arch prevent slippage and rotation whilst on the move.
The Hillwalker Socks will sell at £11 a pair. Colourways for women are: lilac/purple; blue/blue and grey/lilac. Men’s colours are: light grey/grey, grey/dark grey and navy/blue.
