The award-winning MSR Reactor 1.0L

Seattle-based stove specialists MSR have introduced a one-litre version of its Reactor model, pitching in at the lightweight end of the market.

The Reactor 1.0L stove picked up an award at the ISPO trade fair in Munich and adds to the company’s Reactor range, which includes the standard 1.7 litre model, a 2.5 litre version and a hanging kit and coffee press.

MSR said: “The 1.0L system is the smallest system in the line and is ideal for soloists or two people looking for the Reactor’s record-breaking speed and all-condition performance in the lightest and smallest possible configuration.”

Drew Keegan, director of MSR stoves and cookware, added: “Since the Reactor system’s debut, committed users worldwide have benefited from the unique engineering that makes it unbeatable in real-world conditions.

“They’ve learned from experience that, in the conditions when they rely on their stoves the most, they can count on this stove to pull through.”

The company said the Reactor system’s patent-pending design shields the burner from the effects of wind that cause other stoves to slow or fail altogether.

“Combined with precision pressure regulation for superior high-altitude and cold-weather performance, only the Reactor system delivers in the field what it promises on the box,” it said.

The minimum weight of the Reactor 1.0L is 417g, and its normal packed weight is 434g. Boiling time for 1 litre of water is 3½ minutes.

The Reactor 1.0L retails at £140. The pot is available separately at £59.99. More details are on the MSR section of the Cascade Designs website.
