The woman slipped on snow while coming down Pen-y-ghent

A walker was rescued from one of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks after slipping and injuring her ankle.

The woman was coming down Pen-y-ghent yesterday when the incident happened.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out at about 2.15pm and went to the walker’s aid. She had been descending the fell towards Hull Pot when she slipped on the snow-covered footpath.

The walker was treated at the scene, then sledged to the rescue team’s vehicles near the top of the Horton Scar Lane track and taken to Horton in Ribblesdale where a waiting ambulance took her to hospital.

It was the fifth callout of the year for the volunteer team, which carries out rescues both on the fells and in the caves of the Dales.
