An outdoors fan will celebrate a milestone birthday year with a set of challenges that will see her cover the equivalent distance between her home and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
Kyleigh Hill of south Wales turns 30 this year, and decided to push herself to the limit to raise cash for four charities.
Her 30-4-30 challenge will bring in funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, the Severn Area Rescue Association, the Victoria Cross Trust and the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal.
Ms Hill will undertake 30 different activities, including a complete round of the shore and border of Wales along the Wales Coastal Path and Offa’s Dyke Path.
She will also tackle the national Three Peaks, Hadrian’s Wall walk and 24 mountains in the Brecon Beacons.
Ms Hill, a volunteer Sea Cadets civilian instructor, will juggle the events with being a mum, holding down a job and her volunteer work.
She has already summited three Brecon Beacon peaks: Pen y Fan, Corn Du and Cribyn.
She said: “I am approaching the landmark 30th birthday and wanted a different way to celebrate it.
“I’ve never really made much of birthdays before and I’m not really a party person, so have decided that my 30th celebration will be to complete 30 events, in aid of four charities.
“The events will take place over the full 12 months of 2013.
“I’m hoping for most of the events to be open to others who would like to take on one or more challenges in aid of these four fantastic causes.”
Ms Hill began her challenge in 8 January and, if successful, will cover 7,435km (4,620 miles) by running, cycling, swimming, rowing and walking.
She also hopes to spend 30 minutes taking part in 30 different sports.
Ms Hill has set up a Virgin Moneygiving page for donations, which has so far brought in more than £700.
