Two walkers who spent the night on a Highland munro after going missing were found unharmed today.
The pair were with a group of walkers on Ben More near Crianlarich yesterday when they got separated in bad weather.
Killin Mountain Rescue Team was joined by members of the Lomond team yesterday in a search of the 1,174m (3,852ft) mountain in cold, wet conditions with snowfall on the tops of the hills. The walkers had not been seen since 2.40pm on Saturday.
The walkers were found today, unharmed but wet and tired about 3km (2 miles) from the summit and airlifted to safety by a Royal Navy Sea King helicopter from HMS Gannet in Ayrshire.

19 November 2012Message to the Rescue teams.
Thank you so much for helping to save my daughter's life. We expected the worst after that freezing night. We'll be eternally grateful to the Killin mountain rescue team, the Lomond team and the Helicopter crew.
I would like to gift-aid a donation in recognition of Killin Mountain Rescue Team's voluntary efforts. How can I do this?

19 November 2012Dear Theresa, thanks you for your kind words, we are glad to hear your daughter, and her friend, are back safely - it was not the most pleasant night on the hill! With Regards, Lomond MRT
PS I understand the Helicopter crew came from RNAS Gannet and not from the RAF

19 November 2012PS Apologies, ignore my PS As you have the helicopter line correct (unlike a number of other sites)

19 November 2012We were up there on Sunday morning to climb the ben but stayed away on Police advice. Delighted to hear both women were rescued and are OK. How did they end up stuck on the hill in the first place, though?

19 November 2012From the Lomond MRT website http://www.lomondmrt.org.uk/viewlatestnews.php?latestnumber=532: "The women were part of an walking group, arranged through a social network website.
"The group were tackling the favourite combination of Stob Binnein and Ben More. Having completed Stob Binnein and before progressing on to Ben More, the party left their ruck-sacs on the col.
"Somehow, the couple became separated from the rest of the group in bad weather. The group spent about an hour searching for the lost couple and with no success, retrieved all the bags from the col and made their way down to summon help.
"The police were in mobile contact with the women until about 15:00 when everything went quiet. Concern rose due to the deteriorating weather conditions. Killin MRT were out overnight and RN177 , having fought their way up Loch Lomond, became grounded until first light because of the severity of the weather.
"Having spent the night on the hill, the pair were very cold but otherwise well. It transpired that they had spent the night in the trees and, on hearing the helicopter, made their way into the open and were subsequently rescued."
