The bridge leads to Coire Gabhail, the Lost Valley, in Glencoe

The bridge leading to the Lost Valley in Glencoe has finally reopened, almost five months after it was closed for repairs.

The closure has meant a 1km diversion for walkers and climbers heading for Coire Gabhail.

The work by the National Trust for Scotland was originally due to take 12 weeks, but problems with the rebuilding of the bridge, near the Meeting of Three Waters led to the route being closed to walkers for 21 weeks.

The trust apologied to outdoor enthusiasts, who had to walk 700m to the west to cross the River Coe by the Coire nan Lochan bridge.

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland announced the bridge reopened today.
