A pair of walkers had to be rescued after getting stuck on one of the Langdale Pikes.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 2.50pm yesterday after the walkers rang for help from Harrison Stickle.

Fourteen members of the volunteer team went to the aid of the walkers, who were cragfast on the face of the 736m (2,415ft) fell above Great Langdale and the due were rescued, unhurt, in an operation lasting 3½ hours.

A spokesperson said: “They were assisted off without difficulty.”
