Two climbers were treated by mountain rescuers after falling within minutes of each other on a popular climbing crag.
Edale Mountain Rescue Team was called out to help a climber who had fallen about 6m (20ft) from a route on High Neb on Stanage Edge in the Peak District.
The man suffered hip and ankle injuries in the fall. An air ambulance and crew also flew to the scene.
A spokesperson for the team said: “As the casualty was being treated, we were made aware of a second incident a little further along the crag.
“Another climber had dislocated his shoulder and was in considerable pain. With some team members and the air ambulance crew dealing with the first casualty, other team personnel and a team paramedic attended to the second patient.
“Both were given intravenous pain relief before being evacuated off the hill with the invaluable assistance of other climbers who were in the area.”
The first patient was flown to hospital in Sheffield and the second was taken by ambulance to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
The team had earlier helped the same air ambulance crew when it helped at the site of cycling accident.
The spokesperson said: “Team members on their way to a fundraising event in Stoney Middleton assisted the ambulance service in dealing with a cyclist who had crashed in Hathersage.
“As well as helping to treat the injured female rider, team members located a landing site for the air ambulance and helped marshal the aircraft as it landed before carrying the casualty to the helicopter on a team stretcher.”
The flurry of callouts for the Edale team continued today when an elderly lady fell while visiting Blue John Cavern near Castleton with her family. She slipped and injured her back at the lowest point of the show cave, 60m (200ft) below the entrance.
Along with the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, the Edale team helped the ambulance crew treat the 64-year-old for a back injury before carefully evacuating her up the steep and narrow passage back to the surface.
Once back in the daylight, she was taken to hospital in Stockport.
The recent callouts bring to 66 the number of incidents attended by the Edale team so far in 2012.
