What do the father of Existentialism, a deaf-blind socialist author and a 267-mile walk have in common?
They are inspirations for Berghaus’s new citizen blog Everyday Adventurers, which is being launched to encourage members of the public to recount their challenges.
Writers chosen to be the guest blogger on the brand’s website will get a piece of Berghaus kit and an Olympus camera.
The company is looking for one blogger per month, who will also get a signed certificate from Sir Chris Bonington, Berghaus’s chairman, at the end of their stint.
The company is initially looking for adventurers interested in multi-day backpacking, for instance the 429km Pennine Way, the Haute Route through the Alps, or the Hokkaido Trail in Japan.
For the backpacking adventurer, Berghaus is offering the chosen blogger a Bioflex rucksack from its new MtnHaus range, plus an Olympus TG-620 digital camera which also produces HD videos.
As the company points out, the Alabama born deaf-blind activist Helen Keller said: “Life is either a great adventure or nothing.”
A Berghaus spokesperson said: “We’ll have new themes throughout the year as we want adventurers of every type so if you have particular interest then get in touch, whether you’re a family walker, a member of our fantastic armed services or alpine mountaineer, we just want people who Live for Adventure.”
Would be bloggers need to contact Berghaus with a 100-word intro or a one-minute video to be considered.
As Jean-Paul Sartre said: “For an occurrence to become an adventure, it is necessary and sufficient for one to recount it.”
